New Artist Collective in Barrie

So here's the scoop, Gallery 111 is looking for 4 more core artists to join the collective. We need a combination of 2.5 sculptors and 1.5 two-dimensional artists. How can you have half of an artist you ask? Well, we have half memberships. This means you pay only half of a core membership, receiving either half of the floor or wall space as a full member. We are specifically looking for contemporary printmakers, photographers, ceramicists and other forms of sculpture. All members of the collective pay no commission and receive a percentage of all sales from commission based artists. A full member pays $220 per month (16 ft of wall) and a half member pays $110 per month (8 ft of wall). This is a 10 month sublease which limits your financial commitment unless the collective chooses to renew the lease. Core members are able to sublet their wall space to artists approved by the collective and each core member receives a feature show inbetween now and the end of September. To check out the amazing space you would be showing in, visit 111 Dunlop Street E.  If interested or have more questions, email me at jp@jillpricestudios Include your awesome website link so we can check out your work. You can also give me a call at 705-229-5211.  Want to be part of the Grand Opening on December 6th, then be sure to communicate your interest / link by Friday, November 30th.

Off the Hook Art Auction at the Maclaren this Friday and I am missing it!

Installation Shot of Off the Hook art auction at Maclaren Art Gallery in Barrie
You know those times when you are not quite sure you want to go on vacation because you are going to miss one of the coolest events of the year?  Well, it would just so happen that my hubby booked us a lovely little jaunt to Cuba, which will be taking me out of town before the big show.

Taking a sneak peek yesterday, there are definately a few beauties I would love to add to my collection.  Claudia Mandler McKnights newest work is a real stunner and Jeanette Luchese's print is delicious due to its mark making and luscious layers.  To read about the event, click the link below, and to receive 25% off any artwork in my studio during Lakeshore Mews' Holidandy event on December 8th, guess which work on the wall is mine.  No pressure.  :)

Getting crafty for Holly and Ivy at Matthews Hall

Well tomorrow will be a busy day packing up the car to head to London for the 4th annual Holly and Ivy event at Matthews Hall.  It is always nice to return to my old stomping grounds and visit with the families and staff that made teaching so enjoyable.  Relinquishing the standard table white table cloth, I have packed up my wire shelves to create displays of pillows, purses, brooches, and bowls, with my fabricated landscapes as the backdrop to my smaller craft items.  I think I am starting to get the hang of presentation thanks to my awesome friend and shop owner Meaghan Armstrong.  If you miss shopping at the event, you can call me to custom order purses or brooches for Christmas.
Upcycled old canvases are carefully cut and stitched into bowls of various shapes and sizes making them the perfect centre or accent piece, both indoors and out.  They are perfect in a home where children or clumsy spouses reside.
Upcycled old canvases and fabric are turned into one of a kind clutches that will become a point of discussion where ever you go.  Funk up a simple black gown or dress up a cool pair of jeans and blazer outfit with these unique pieces.
New Canvas brooches are soft and colourful, bright enough to make a statement on any jean jacket or winter coat.  Made from recycled scraps of old canvases, my old mistakes are quickly becoming real gems.
